Doesn't matter the theme. I have a custom theme but I tried garland and zenpage and they both do the same thing. Search doesn't work with certain words. Firefox just displays a blank page. IE displays an HTTP 500 error.

If it's something that doesn't exist - the page will display "no results" as it should. For example the word "onion".

However "car", or "capri" or "logo" displays the blank page - I know there are results for those.

HOWEVER, I searched for "pig" thinking it would come back "no results" but apparently I use the work pigtail & piggyback - so the pages with those words display fine...

The word "juice" also brings back results...a page and an image.

"butter" & "coffee" bring back results but "PCV" is blank. I can't figure out what's going on. I had a similar problem with the garland theme a while back but that ended up only erroring on words that were available and that ended up being a bug - but this is a bit different. I tried changing debug to true in global definitions but no stack trace just he blank page.

Please try the trunk nightly, that is not a theme related bug. (Our own site uses a nightly therefore).
