I just installed zp for the first time and am setting up a simple gallery for a friend. I've configured something basic using the Zenpage theme. My first impressions are very positive.

Question: How can I create a simple About page? I'd like to place it in the right menu column, above Archive for example. Any suggestions most welcome.

Enable the Zenpage CMS plugin and you will find a "pages" tab on the backend. Add a page there and it will appear in section "pages" on the sidebar the Zenpage theme has.

If you wish another position you will have to enable the menu_manager plugin and setup a custom menu (the theme requires a set named "zenpage").

A quick word of THANKS. That pointed me in the right direction.

Having spent some hours now setting up a photo site with zenphoto (work still in progress), I'm seriously impressed! I have a fair bit of experience with Joomla, and considered using that platform, as there are also good templates available. But I pretty quickly discovered that the gallery extension I was using was more suited to small portfolios than for large collections. The fact that zp uses physical directories on disk makes a huge difference. The Joomla extensions I've seen all use a single directory for photos and use internally generated filenames. This might be suitable for 40 or 50 images, but not hundreds or more.

I also gotta say: Zenphoto is a lot faster than Joomla!
