For example, we have album called 'Places', which contains only subalbums, for ex. 'Moscow' and 'New York'. By default, thumb for 'Places' will be first image of first subalbum, but is it possible to set custom thumb for 'Places' - any image from child subalbums ?

This is a feature request scheduled for the 1.2 release.

At present you have two options:

1. edit the database directly. Put the full path to the image you wish for the thumb in the database field for thumb. I have done this on my site using phpMyAdmin.

2. Place a copy of the image you want for a thumb in the album folder but mark it as not visible. (I have not actually tried this, but think it will work.) The drawback for this method is that when you are logged on as the admin, the image will show.

I tried your second advice, but its wont help just because then I upload image to album, which containts subalbums, I cant make that image invisble - I uncheck 'visible' but then hit 'save' button - nothing happens and so settings wont saved. I tried many times but it wont help. As I noticed, 'save' button not working for images if album containts subalbums - maybe a bug, or I do something wrong, not shure...
