Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - CaptainObvious - 2008-07-14 Hi Folks, is there a way to allow a user to manage just a subfolder? From what I can see in the Options>Admin Information, it appears that you can only select top level folders for them to manage, not subfolders. Did I miss something? Thansk! Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - sbillard - 2008-07-14 Management is restricted to the top level albums (and their content.) Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - CaptainObvious - 2008-07-14 Ah, thanks. I've searched and found recommendations to share a single unpublished folder, then manually move user's pics into a subfolder, but was hoping I could avoid a few steps. Is there a simple way to allow users to upload to a subfolder? Thanks! Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - sbillard - 2008-07-14 I you give users access to an album they can upload to any folder within that album. As for your single upload folder, while it is doable, there are some issues you need to consider. We do not yet have an implementation of move/copy/rename. So the only information that would move with the images would be things that are stored within the image EXIF/IPTC fields. If this is not an issue, create a single album for upload. Mark it as unpublished and allow your users upload rights and access to just that album. Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - CaptainObvious - 2008-07-15 I guess I need a primer on the various logins. If I understand right:
So it seems to allow a user to upload pictures, they would need an Admin Login. And they can only upload to top level albums, not subalbums. Is this correct? Thanks. Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - sbillard - 2008-07-15 Pretty good. Some refinements: All passwords are enablers, so #1 enables viewing of the entire gallery. #2 enables viewing of just the album (and subalbums) on which it is applied. The 3: There are many "rights" that can be assigned to an admin user.a. User admin rights: This is kind of a master priviledge. A user with these rights can do anything. (No matter what the other rights might say!) (#g and #h are post 1.1.7 release.)
logins and right are inherited. So if someone has the rights to upload (view, etc.) an album he may do the same with that albums subalbums. There is a plugin (user_logout) which will allow a theme to place a logout link (or if no one is logged in a login form) on a theme page. This is the same form that is displayed when the album/gallery/search page is password protected with a guest password. Associating Users with subfolders, not folders - sbillard - 2008-07-15 Since I was writing this anyway I have added it to the User guide http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/07/an-overview-of-zenphoto-users/ |
