Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-18 Hello, I am using zenphoto version 1.2.5 [4022], and just noticed the following :
Is that a known issue ? Thanks Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-18 Not a known issue, but you should try the 1.2.6 release to see if the problem still exists. Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-18 yes, the same with zenphoto version 1.2.6 [4335] Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-18 Just ran a test. The description came along with the copy both images and albums. Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-19 Strange : it is systematic here, both on my online album and locally on my PC. The "steps" are the following : Let say I want to copy Album1/SubAlbum1/AlbumToCopy to Album2/SubAlbum2. When a AlbumToCopy is displayed, I select "Modify album" from the admin menu (top-right), then from the album Tab I select copy radio button, and choose another sub-album ( The following happens :
Let me know if you want me to check something else. Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-20 Sorry, but you are describing something that I do not recognize. Where are you finding "Modify album" and "AlbumToCopy"? Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-20 Sorry if I was not clear enough (may be too detailled for a basic operation). "AlbumToCopy" in my example is only the album name, located into some subalbum like for example "/Album1/SubAlbum1". As said, the new album copied has still the album decription, but all images have lost their data (description, place, city, country, etc... + comments). Description lost when copying album - acrylian - 2009-08-20 Ok, that link is actually named "Edit album" so we did not know what you meant. We will try to reproduce this. Description lost when copying album - Damien - 2009-08-20 I'm almost experiencing the same problems. I updated from 1.2.3 to 1.2.6. I've moved some albums to a sub-albums. I've lost all the comments, description, ... How can I do to restore all the comments ? Now I've updated, I can't restore and I've an error when I try to restore. What can I do ? Thx Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-20 I can verify this issue now that I have the full description of how to reproduce it. I will contact the author of this feature and see if he can find a quick fix. Description lost when copying album - majo - 2009-08-22 I remember a checkbox in the admin setting that enables display of titles/comments for upload files. I was looking to keep the file datalog from CanonEos. Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-22 There is no such option (never has been one.) But if you place your titles in the IPTC headline and your comments in the IPCT description of the image Zenphoto will use them. Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-23 Please try tonight's nightly build. I believe I have fixed this problem. Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-23 hello, Using build 1.2.6 [4373], all image data information is correctly copied when copying album. But Comments are still lost. You are on the right way... Description lost when copying album - sbillard - 2009-08-23 I don't really think that comments should be copied when you copy an album. The copied album is really new, as are the images in it. So there would of course not have been any comments posted to them. Description lost when copying album - pled - 2009-08-24 I see your point. In my case, here is the reason why I had to copy some albums : While reorganizing all my albums (all were at the root level, no sub-albums, flat model), I created sub-albums to sort albums depending on the content, such as "Sport" and "Family". Doing that, I noticed some albums where the content was including both pictures from a week-end with family AND a moutain bike ride. Thus I wanted to split such album in two separates albums, one into "Family" sub-album and the moutain bike ride into the "Sport" one. The only way to reach this was to move then copy such album (one move, one copy), then removing unwanted pictures from each of the two new albums. In that scenario, I would expect to keep comments. But I agree this is a little bit specific usage of the copy feature. So... may be the best would be an option to check for comments to be copied when copying an album ? Anyway, thanks for the fix about data image. |
