cannot compress jpg - jerome - 2010-04-20
Hi, i have just installed zenphoto 1.2.8 and working great. However i want to be able to upload a photo and zenphoto compress that for me.
I have tried the compression controls under the 'Options' -> 'image' tab and it seems it doe not affect the image at all. When i look at the file size on the server after upload its exactly the same?!
Can anyone help please.

Please upgrade to the current relase 1.2.9.

You need to clear the cache after changing those settings. Otherwise just the old cached images are used.

Zenphoto does not "compress" anything. The JPEG picture format is already compressed, so such a feature would be unnecessary.
Perhaps you are considering the "quality" setting for the resized images and thumbnails that zenphoto creates and places in the cache folder. If so, how they impact images depends entirely on the image. In addition, as acrylian states, you would need to clear your cache for this to have impact on already cached images.
