static html cache strange behaviour - flu - 2011-04-11

Hi guys,
using zenphoto version 1.4.0.2 [6757] (Official Build) I've noticed that the static html cache does not automatically update the cache when a registered user saves some new infos.

And I think to myself, well, whyyyy ?

Cheers !

It is simply not built in and never was. It is planned that the cache is wiped automatically when something is updated (but then all of it, as more than just the item itself might need updating).

Strangely I can't make it work without cleaning the cache myself...

Again, the cache does not clear or update if you change anything and never did. Two options.

  1. Clear the cache manually
  2. Wait until it reached the time limit set on its option so it updates itself (= caches the item again)

ok I get it and that's what I thought, that's just a pity.

Cheers, anyway !

We will never make it for example that you change a page and the cache updates exactly that page.

As you never know where this page is shown/used elsewhere (main menu, excerpt on another page) we will clear the whole cache so nowhere is anything outdated left. This will be probably in 1.4.1 and maybe a checkbox on the backend edit pages to choose.

Ok Acrylian, that makes sense.
Thank you for your answer.

Cheers !
