Hello, I'm really enjoying Zenphoto as a substitution to other php galleries I've used in the past.

I'm trying to understand why there is a delay when first viewing the website while the thumbs load. The images have been pre-cached. Even if I don't clear my local PC cache and revisit that first load is slow...I've tired all browsers on Mac OSX and Win7 alike.

I'm running a very fast dell server (quad core) for zen photo with lots of room, speed and no other loads. I note when I visit the website from another client PC the usage on all 4 cores shoots to 100% for 20-30 sec...just like you would see when images are pre-cached.

Any suggestions

From looking at your site I am guessing it has something to do with whatever tool you are using for displaying your top-rated albums. It would appear that the image links generated for this are all to the image processor (i.php) so these images will be re-generated each time the page loads.

But in general on image pre-caching. Unless your theme is using the "standard" sizes of images the pre-caching will be of no help. We generally do not recommend pre-caching. (Probably we should remove the function, but it makes so many people comfortable.)

Just browsing your site is really the best way to get things into the cache.
