Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - wrrn - 2012-02-14
I just made the site live an hour ago by removing an htaccess file on the server. The address is http://www.havanastreetart.com Have searched the forums and found a comment from 4 years ago that did not help my situation. Any help appreciated. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - wrrn - 2012-02-14 Interestingly, I have been able to reproduce the problem to specific situations: If you visit any album and ALSO click on any thumbnail to display the larger size image, then go back to home page, the slideshow will show at correct size. However if you don't view a large image and simply visit the thumbnail page or any other page on the site, the slideshow will display truncated. My setup: I have refreshed the database and purged image cache. I'm baffled!? Maybe I need paid support. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - sbillard - 2012-02-14 Sounds like the image has not been cached unless you first visit it. If the slideshow is some kind of colorbox type implementaton it is likely that it does not know the link it is processing is an image if it has not already been cached. This is a fairly common coding error. But I'm not familiar with that theme, thought. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - wrrn - 2012-02-15 Thanks for that. Would the pre-cache images command in overview tab be a possible solution? I avoided just clicking it because of the popup message. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - sbillard - 2012-02-15 I suspect that it would, given that if you visit th image things seem to work. However, if the theme is making custom images then the pre-caching script would need to be modified to match the image sizes it caches. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - wrrn - 2012-02-15 Well this is getting a bit above my head, but thanks sbillard for your suggestions. For others who may have this problem, I remedied the issue with a workaround ... turned on the rating plugin, rated the images I liked best, changed the slideshow parameter from Random to Image-MostRated. Cannot get it to fail now, so all looks good. Apparently the Random option causes problems. Frontpage slideshow problem, zpmasonry - egrigson - 2012-06-20 I'm having the same issue but I can't find the pre-caching images command in the overview tab, as referred to by wrrn above. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Ed. |
