I just did an upgrade to the latest version, but somehow characters like the arrow ( » ) within the printParentBbreadcrumbs is not converted anymore:

All the tables in the database were and are set to UTF8.

This has really widely been discussed since the 1.4.3 release and was announced on the 1.4.3 release post (three months ago). Here one topic from yesterday:
