Maybe I missed an option but with »News« I have to issues:

a) The truncated article ends in [...] as specified in the options but there is no »read more«, even though I see it in the options

b) Inserting a page break into a news article does not result in truncation at that point.

Both options as found under options -> plugins -> zenpage

And you're right, when I switch to Garland it works fine. I didn't think this would be a theme related.
