http://www.zenphoto.org/trac

Well, I gave in and installed Trac. Confluence and JIRA were great pieces of software, but the Java they're in will always be inherently resource intensive (despite what anyone tries to convince you--don't listen to them) and I simply can't run them on a simple web server such as mine.

Trac looks like it'll work nicely. There are a few quirks, like administration done on the command line, but other than that the interface is clean and consistent and it handles everything we need, from Wiki to Bug tracking to SVN browsing and log viewing.

I'm still importing bugs and wiki entries from the old software manually through the database. It should be fairly straightforward, but unfortunately can't be automated, so it might take me a while. I encourage you to continue writing new articles and submitting new bugs as you need. Let's get this community going again!

In addition, hosting Trac here on my own server means I'll be hosting SVN too, which I like. The SVN repository is now:

Lastly, you'll notice the forums are gradually accumulating new things, like images, ads, and links. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to leave a comment. Even if you don't, leave a comment anyway and let me know how we're doing!

Actual progress is coming, really. I've planned out the completely redesigned admin pages for subalbums, some heavy refactoring, and some great new features, so stick around and stay tuned.

To recap:

Woohoo! Let's get busy on some docs and faqs too. I have some FAQs I can post already, and maybe I'll hunt the forum postings for some more to add....

OK. I'm beginning work on the FAQ page.

Now. Since I've not used TRAC before to any great extent (other than reference on other TRAC sites) what is the etiquette in terms of posting articles?

I would assume it would be best to create an HTML based FAQ, and then post it as an article, rather than putting it all in the description field of the FAQ page, is that correct?

Looks like I answered my own question. Generally FAQs on a TRAC system are pure HTML with named anchors similar to the TRAC FAQ: http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracFaq

So that's the way I'll format it unless someone tells me different.

I've also added a basic structure to the ZenphotoHacks page at http://www.zenphoto.org/trac/wiki/ZenphotoHacks. This page will outline some of the more common variants of hacks that have been done with Zenphoto with code samples (and attachments) whenever possible.

I modified the ZenphotoPlugins page at http://www.zenphoto.org/trac/wiki/ZenphotoPlugins to include the two common Wordpress plugins, and hopefully someday in the future when Tris gets the plugin API in the core code, we can add official Zenphoto plugins to this page as well.....

I also uploaded Zenpress and Zenshow distributions to the wiki page so they won't disappear from existence. Zenshow is particularly nice because the page no longer exists.

What can I say? I'm a pack rat for code.
