I found another thread with the same problem on another theme. The discussion ended with vague mention of changing values when you duplicate.
However, I only have the zpbase theme and cannot find anything in themeoptions.php to change the value of uncropped thumbnails. Currently, the grayed out box has them set to 100px. That is far too small.
Where, and how can I change this value? I don't mind if it's hardcoded, though finding the root cause would make it easier to adjust sizes in the future.

Which files should I at least be looking in? They're too small even on mobile. They take up half the mobile screen, left justified, 1 thumbnail per row. If it's going to make it 1 per row, they should at least fill up more width.

That does not appear to be default settings. The pc thumbnails aren't even that large with the base theme, let alone mobile. The album titles don't display like that either. Any way I can contact him and ask what he uses and modified, via forum?

I did get in contact with Ralf. He sent me his edited album-grid and album-masonry templates, but they don't seem to contain all I need.
I tried changing the site max width, as it says, but if anything, the thumbnails get smaller. I'd like the thumbnails to be twice their size or more.

I'm not sure I understand. I removed the dash from zpbase-master as the dir name, and that DID allow me to change the thumbnail size, but that's not actually the fix.

Mysql->yourDB->zenphoto_options->thumb_size->change value from "100" to whatever you want. I suggest ~300px.
Why has this not been solved in any of the other threads? I could have sworn I did a db search for "thumb" and "100" before, but I must have overlooked them to just find that entry now.
I do have another, minor, problem. I have some portrait thumbnails and landscape thumbnails sharing the same rows at certain resolutions, which makes less of a grid. I mean it's neat and it resembles some of the popular social media sites that jam thumbnails in every usable space, lined up or not, but is there a way to line them up, say landscapes line up with the center of the portraits? If not, I'm really okay and happy that my thumbnails are actually large enough that you can see anything more than splotches of color.
