When I set:

$conf['thumb_crop'] = false;

the main page displays the gallery names and description to the right but below the thumbnail of the gallery rather than directly to the right (this happens in Firefox, in IE it looks better). Also in this mode the gallery name and description is placed without any space beside the thumbnail.
