I just enabled comments, and when I was emailed about a new one, I just got a notification that a new comment was posted in the album.

Would it be possible to also include the option to put a link to that photo in the email, as well as send the actual comment and the name of the person who commented in the email. That way, I'm not hunting down which photo was commented on, just to find out who it was from and what the comment actually was.

Have you tried the comment rss feed?

The mail message should have given you the name of the album, name of the image, and the comment. Did this not happen?

I received an email with the subject line:

Comment posted on [albumname]/[sub-albumname] about [photoname]

Comment posted on 2008/Butterflies about _4138401

and the body was "A comment has been posted in your album"

I did find the actual comment by going to my album, clicking on the album, then subalbum and scrolling to the third page where the photo was, but it would have been easier to have the email contain the link directly there and/or the actual comment.

Nothing urgent, just a nice-to-have.

For the rss feed that acrylian mentions, I tried clicking on the RSS link at the bottom of my pages, and I get an error message -- could this be because I enabled a password on my album?

There seems to be something wrong with the rss.php. Which zenphoto version are you running?
Anyway, rss.php is the "normal" rss feed for new images. We have a separate one just for comments that can be called via www.orangedrop.com/zenpoto/rss-comments.php. It's not implemented as a link in any of the theme so you would have to call it directly.

I did just subscribe to the other feed for the comments you suggested and will test how it works. I wrote myself a comment about 20 minutes ago, but don't see it reflected on

Any chance that my initial suggestion (of adding the actual comment and URL to the image within the actual email) could still be implemented?

A reason could be that your album is either not published or password protected.

Looks like a bug was introduced. You should have got much more information about the comment including the link. I have found the error and will have the fix in tonight's build.
