Is it possible to print a single random image in its original size using a specific tag and pointing to its original album on the index page ?

No, sorry, the random image functions we have print only thumbnails.

But you could look at the efferscene theme that is included in the Zenphoto package. Its customfunctions.php has a function printHeadingImage()that you probably could use.
