how do i link my zenphoto gallery to link directly at the default DNS name.

Ie, currently when navigating to a gallery the following link is in the browser > http://www.test.com/zenphoto/index.php
and then selecting the first album the link calls http://www.test.com/zenphoto/index.php?album=test1

I would like my users to call www.test.com and then the gallery of albums to be presented.

Just install Zenphoto in the root.
