hi,

first of all i'm actually in the decision phase for my portfolio; "wordpress gallery" vs. "zen photo".
i would love to go with zen photo since wordpress is fully loaded with uneccesary features and functions which i never need.

there is now only one basic and essential thing i miss, a description/introduction text field on the index page same like the description boxes for the albums.

is there somewhere a plugin or a hack around to shizzle the dizzle?

thanks in advance

ps: awesome job on the thumbnail monochrome filter. ( http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=5243#post-30646 )

There is a gallery description feature. That feature is used by the Effervescence+ and Stopdesing themes. They use printGalleryDesc(), but there are varients on the function.

A good suggestion for questions like this. Visit http://www.zenphoto.org/documentation/elementindex.html and do a search on what you wish to do. In this case I looked for instances of description. Once you are more familiar with Zenphoto terms you can refine the search. gallery description would have got you very close.

Just to add an alternative: It is also possible to call an unpublished Zenpage page's content as an gallery description (or where else wished).

the alternative sounds good to me, just before i start my experiment with code snippets... is this alternative a template dependent thing or a "copy & paste & go" solution?

In any case you will have to add a function to the theme page in question. The Zenpage page variant of course requires the Zenpage plugin.
