One of the efferescence+ theme personalities uses SimpleViewer. Generally you can setup all themes to use whatever you want (depending if you want to do some work of course).

the theme "effervescence plus" is already included in your Zenphoto themes directory.
Anyway, you should have a look here :

A quick look at the site did not result in any "how to" for using this as a custom slideshow. But, it it can be configured as simpleviewer is it can be used as part of a theme in Zenphoto. Of course, since as far as I know, no one has done so, you are on your own if you want to use it.

Have your developer friend look at the themeing guide on our website. Also he can use existing themes as examples. We recommend that you copy and rename any theme you are planning on modifying. That will save you grief when Zenphoto is updated.
