After upgrading to 1.2.7 from 1.2.5, the description of most photos disappeared (more than 60% of all the photos). The photos that are not affected are those oldest ones. Luckily I have backuped the database. I tried to import the backup database. The description seems OK until I login into the admin, the descriptions are gone again. I also tried clean install, but again after I log into the admin, the descriptions disappeared. Those oldest photos are always fine, and album descriptions are OK too. I spent a lot of time on this issue but can't seem to solve it. Any idea what might cause this problem? Thanks.

Thanks bryan. This problem is very frustrating. I feel lucky I had a script set up to automatically backup the database. Otherwise more than 1000 descriptions would just be gone. Did installing night build solve your problem?

I just installed the night build. It seems to be ok, for now. But frankly, this issue is pretty serious.

So, what do you want us to do? Retroactively fix it?

haha, no. it's just since 1.2.7 is the official stable version and most people will use it instead of the nightly build, if this problem is confirmed and has been fixed, it's worth an official update, or at least let people know whatever that may trigger it, after all, getting hundreds of description disappear is no fun.

I think that's the only part that I'd like to know is what's actually causing it. I haven't had the situation happen, but can understand the frustration, especially if you don't back up the db often.

Problem is caused by the refresh metadata. It is taking the EXIF/IPTC description even if it does not exist.
