I'd like to use table tags in the gallery description. Just adding table, tr and td to the list of allowed html tags didn't do it for me.
Is there another way?

No, you probably have not added them correctly to the allowed html tags ones. Then they should not be cleared. In case you mean the tables in the TinyMCE editor you have to modify the configuration file or create your own. See the TinyMCE website for info about that.
