I have filled in the correct database details but I get a blank page. I'm on a vps server

Please look into your server's error log.

I checked my apache & sql log and no errors. As soon as I put my database details the setup page goes blank

You get an "internal server error" (as Safari reports). This is most likey related to .htaccess/modrewrite. Please try a forum search, too.

Hi, I've just been though this pain.
The warnings about mbstring and gettext are not to be ignored it seems. Fixing my php to have these extentions enabled was what kicked the setup back in to life for me.
