Hello,

I have a particular tag to add to hundreds of picts. Is there a way to do that in one time or do I have to do it one by one?

Thank you...

Goto Admin options
Then the Album tab.
Click on the name of the album that contains the images you want to tag.
Add the tag to all images.
Click apply/save.

Note: If you're not seeing the tag selection box, click the "Show More Fields" link under an image.

Thanks Micheall but that's what I call "one at a time". It's pretty slow like that. I am wondering if there would be a way to define a tag and then to apply it by checking photos in a folder for example. But apparently it's not possible.
And when one applies a tag to an album, the option to have that tag applied to the photos inside this album doesn't exist either. Correct?

Correct, as far as I'm aware that option doesn't exist unless it's a new feature I haven't seen yet (kind of had my gallery on back burner).

You could always generate a sql query to do it I guess if you're comfortable with that.

We generally recommend that you use a client based image management app to apply tags to the images themselves. For instance, adobe bridge will gracefully add tags to all the selected images.

Sure, it works with Bridge, but the key words added in Bridge don't appear in Zenphoto. Then, it's useless if the goal is to get a new active tag.

However I can confirm that somehow it does not work for me with Bridge CS3 as well. But this seems to be an issue with Bridge as it does work if added using Photoshop CS3. No idea what might be different.

Anyway, if you add tags or anthing else via metadata to images already present to Zenphoto you will have to do a metadata refresh.

Ah, but they DO! I am guessing that you are post processing your images with something that strips off the metadata before you upload them. (For instance, the Photoshop "save for WEB")

Well, I just added a tag test to a photo with Bridge CS2. The tag filled the field "keywords", as I checked with Photoshop. I didn't use the "save for the web", to avoid having the tag erased, and I uploaded the photo to my zp gallery.
A search on the new tag doesn't return anything. The new tag doesn't show in the tag list. I don't know where it's gone.

Check your options to be sure the tags are not being saved as XML data.

Where do I check that? Thank you.

OK, I found it in Bridge and disabled xml support. There's a small confusion in my mind between metadata and exif data I think, but anyway, the metadata "keywords" is not available in Zenphoto list options>image>exif display. It's not available either in options>search>fields list. Maybe that's why it doesn't work?

"metadata" is a generic term and (for image files) refers to both the EXIF and the IPCT data and even the XMP data if it is so stored.

Tags are a specific "metadata" and are treated separately by zenphoto because of their intended use for searches, etc. Tags will not show up in the search Database fields, you must specifically allow search on tags.

You should also see the image metadata keywords in the list of tabs on the tags tab.
