I have a gallery that is running very slowy... basically unusable. I am running the latest zenphoto version 1.4.2.2. I have never had it run quickly but in the past few days it has just been grinding along. Things eventually load but it takes forever. You can see for yourself at: www.mercurygallery.com. Any help or ideas on what might be happening would be great.

One other thing, it doesn't matter what theme I use its always slow

You can try using the static cache plugin. This will cache your pages the first time a guest views it then serve the html from the cache on subsequent visits by guests.

Maybe something new is running on your server and you are no longer getting the processing allotments you used to.

Just to note I get a 403 forbidden if I try to visit your site.

Thanks... ill give the static cache plugin a try. I also switched to a different server that has a local database (the previous one was hosted separately) hopefully it helps

Hosting the database separately is not necessarily an issue. The hosting service for my site has the database on a separate server. In fact, that might even help if it is a dedicated database server.

I have to agree, it is horrible. On mobile devices my site downt load at all. On computers it is just too painfully. I hope it is fixed soon, because i will change my setup to coppermine. I will hate doing that. I really like zenphoto and i have done the steps above. My (hosted) mySQL server seems to respond well enough on my other (wordpress) sites. It is something in the php code or pic processing, I think.

try vogelkennis.nl or an even smaller one [link deleted]

We are sorry to see you leave. But you should keep in mind that coppermine is more database intensive than Zenphoto--It is not filesystem based.

You did read this thread, didn't you? I is about the hosting service performance, specifically with the database server. Perhaps you would be better served by changing hosting services.
