I purged my image cache and my default mp3 thumbs disappeared... can anyone tell me what I might have done for this to happen? I was trying to change the mp3default image and wasn't sure which location was the correct one, so changed it in multiple places. However, I don't think I deleted any... Is the correct location to change it in the /zp-core/zp-extensions/class-video directory ? I'm using the flv player plugin... Thank you for any insight you can give...

Also, it would be nice to change the message that is there now to something other than "view the image:" since I am using audio as well.

Yes, of course the image must be the same file format and named exactly as the originals. Also you can also store them within your theme's images folder as well. This would be the recommend way.

I replaced the mp3Default.png image in the class-video directory and it solved the problem. Must have not liked the image for some reason... Thanks for replying.
