Zenphoto is overall the best gallery system based on its look, functionality, SEO, administrative options, and ease of use.

However my zenphoto project is at a Halt because of a user permission feature I thought it had. I took a break for a month trying to come up with my solution and comparing it to other gallery systems.

What I am trying to achieve is to create gallery administrators to upload albums to the site, but only have permissions to edit the galleries they upload and not other.

Now i know that with zenphoto you can create a user to have upload permissions to Subalbums.

However I dont want use sub albums, because visitors of my site are looking for events in the order by dates in 1 main gallery. So i want to collectively display all albums on 1 page, contributed by different photographers/authors.

A perfect example. Like in word press, you can have different authors contribute stories to 1 blog. However, each author only has permissions to edit or delete their own story, and not anyone else. From the view point of the visitors, they see 1 website, 1 column full of different stories contributed by different authors.

I want to achieve the same thing with zenphoto. I want to have different photographers upload their own albums to 1 gallery, but with no access to other albums they did not create.

My current gallery Im using is http://7dias7noches.net/photo_album.php . For the last 3 years, photographers send me pictures, and I upload them for security reason. I dont want any 1 photographer to have access to wipe out my whole gallery. This has happened before.

I invested time and money on my zenphoto project and completed it, but cannot use it because of the concerns I have above. http://7dias7noches.net/zenphoto/

Im willing to pay the developers here, to create a solution for me if possible.

Coppermine is the only system that has the administrative functionality Im looking for, but we all know coppermine is Ugly lol.

First, please use the right terms. "gallery" refers always to the Zenphoto installation in total, everything else are "albums" (please see the glossary).

Now i know that with zenphoto you can create a user to have upload permissions to Subalbums.
That is not correct. You can assign rights of top level albums only to specific users which then includes the rights to all subalbums of this top level album as well. Of course these albums have to exist before you can assign rights to them.

Yes. Im looking to have users make albums that dont exist. But only have permissions to albums they create

So what is wrong with this which you have been pointed to on another thread already? http://www.zenphoto.org/2009/11/filter-personal-album/

That plugin only allows 1 album per user. The user can upload pics or sub albums to that 1 album that was assigned to them upon registration.

What you're wanting should be possible. If a user has ALBUM_RIGHTS, then you can simply assign him any album he creates as a managed album. Then, he will have access to only the albums he creates.

Assigning an album as a user creates it could probably be done by a filter. See: http://www.zenphoto.org/2010/08/zenphoto-plugin-architecture/#filters-object-model

Well, the only difficulty with this is that a user without full permissions may not create a root level album. If he has permissions for the root level, he has all albums permissions.

The only way to get what you want is to create a filter (perhaps) to "admin_custom_data..." that would provide him a means of creating an album and assign him that album to administer. Except for error handling (what if the album already exists?) this should not be difficult.

Im working around you. Make me a reasonable offer. If it works, its free for everyone else if you decide to release later. However I dont mind paying for what I need.

Software development costs are almost never "reasonable". I Guess this is not so important to you then. Anyway, good luck.

Im not going to negotiate a price in public in the forums. Reasonable can be reasonable for you. Its up to me to decide to take deal. I can say $1, but doesnt not mean you will take the offer. Therefore you know the minimum that you would take. email me

No one expects to negotiate here on public, actually we don't commercial talk of that detail here on the forum at all..;-)

Quote:. If it works, its free for everyone else if you decide to release later.
Just as a quick legal info for you: It will be anyway since it will be a derivative work of Zenphoto so it will be GPL v2 licenced automatically (In short we wouldn't need your "permission" to release it later at all).

Guys all I want it a cost. I didn't say anything regarding legal stuff. Im not buying copyrights. I'm just saying I am the test dummy if this prototype works or needs further developement with my contribution. If it works well, then great.

I'm offering to pay expedite my copy of this prototype mentioned. Can I not feel like the enemy here with the responses I'm getting.

Sorry, if you felt treated like an "enemy". That was not my/our intention (gee, again missunderstandings in written text on the net as so often). Since we don't know your or your background I was just putting a note about the sentence I cited. Just to avoid missunderstandings of the like "I paid for it why is it now free for all!" type. If you already know about all these things, sorry, how shall I know.

My collegue will surely respond later. He is in another timezone so that will still take a few hours.
