I wanted to upgrade from 1.4.1.6 to 1.4.2. Everythiing went fine until I followed the recommendation to change from strict to very strict file access. I cannot access the site any more getting this error message:

I tried to change the rights back, but it did not help.

try a standard theme if you haven't already. If the error does not appear you need you work on your custom theme.

Or try to re-upload the file in question as sometime for weird reasons files can get broken via FTP.

I cannot change the theme, because I cannot login. Or can I change it somewhere else?

I have already uploaded files twice.

The problem occured after changing the file-permissions. I've changed all file permissions to 775, but it did not help.

I have even deleted my cusrtom theme, but I still get the same error.

I used my backup-files and did the setup again. This time I ignored the recommendation for very strict access and everything is fine.

Ok, the strictest permissions do not work on every server (incl. mine) but "strict" should really be the lowest to use. Maybe talk to your host about that.
