In older versions of zenphoto, the image title immediately after an upload would strip the file extension (so "ferrari.jpg" would have the title "ferrari") but now the extension is included.
Is this by design or an oversight? In my opinion the old way was better.

I am not seeing that on my installs. Sure you or your image program does not store the file name as title in metadata or something?

I tried it with some other images and it didn't add the extension, so it does seem inconsistent, though I don't see what is causing it.

In the database all of the EXIF and IPTC fields are blank for the images that cause the bug.
I have also disabled all of the metadata options in the admin panel but it still happens.

"File Info" in Photoshop shows no extra data on the images.

Any ideas about what could be causing it?

How were the images uploaded? FTP or one of the Zenphoto uploaders? (If the latter, which one?)

Ok, that uploader did not properly stript the suffix. Fixed in the nightly build now.
