Internet Explorer IE8 and Gallery Passwords

I have a password on public galleries and it works fine for most people except some people using IE under Windows. Took a while to reproduce the problem, but it gets triggered when security settings are cranked up.

Running the default install of IE8 on Windows 7 I can use the gallery password and access the pics, but once I change the security settings to maximum security the login stops workings and redirects back to the login request.

Have tried changing the zenphoto settings to use sessions instead of cookies, but it's still broken. Can't find a fix at the zenphoto end, just the IE end.

Has anyone else seen this problem on their installs, and found a solution? At the moment some clients can see the photos, and some cannot. Those that cannot are invariably unwilling or unable to change their IE security settings.

I cannot test IE at all but my colleague does. Since he is the author of the user right/security features he surely would have noticed. Might be that he uses IE9 though. If you can you should in any case upgrade to the latest.
  • What security settings are you talking of? IE? I do know IE has a number of issues dealing with cookies. But mostly what I have seen is that it uses cookies from a different "base" than the web software has requested.

Sessions must have a session ID, so perhaps the secutity setting is preventing that from being sent as well. If the security settings prohibit cookies including the session cookie, then there is nothing you can do short of reducing the security settings.
