The simpler media website CMS
Someone has hacked my gallery3 installation in a way I cannot work out what they did.
The webhost will not help me do the migration or fix the hack.
I tried to use the migration script but there are non-standard characters in my directions so it failed and I put it in the too-hard basket. How did people actually get it to work? I am not smart enough to spend all day every day working out regular expressions I have a full time job.

There is a gallery running now I guess. Now I have to learn how to use PuTTY and SSH.
Sorry for your trouble but the two gallery to Zenphoto migration solutions listed on our site are pretty old and dead - as is Gallery3 - so they might not work properly anymore.
Sadly we cannot help here. I don't remember how gallery stored images/albums but Zenphoto is file system based. So you can migrate the plain files possible just via FTP. You will loosed any text added to the database via Gallery3 though but all metadata embeded in the images will be imported by Zenphoto.
I am not familiar with Gallery 3, but I have some Perl scripts that I wrote to convert the database of a Gallery 2 installation to Zenphoto.
I zipped up all the folders and images and moved them to the new webserver in their originally named folders, and then used the Perl scripts (using PUtty as you suggest) to transfer the Gallery 2 database details to the Zenphoto database.
I am happy to let you have the scripts - you will probably need to adapt them - if you think it might help.
