Login and sub-albums

Hello, ZenPhoto Community... I have just installed zenphoto 1.2.1 and am in the process of setting up a number of albums. During this I have run into the following problem and I am writing in hope of getting some help.

The aim is to have several 'Main' albums, each containing a number of sub-albums. I want to restrict access to all of them, but just the 'Main' album level - There is just 1 password for the Main album and it is different for each of the Main albums.

Seems easy at first glance. After setting up the guest password for one Main album it works - it is necessary to log in to view it. However after I log in to this Main album, if I want to view any of its sub-albums, I get prompted to enter the password AGAIN. And for EVERY sub-album (atm 14, but I want to add more). The guest user and password fields are empty for the sub-albums, so I cannot understand, why I am prompted for the password.

I realize that the password of the 'Main' album is extended also to its sub-albums - this is expected and perfectly logical. However once the password is entered, the sub-albums should be unlocked as well (as long as they do not have separate passwords set). This seems like the expected and logical behavior. Can someone please explain to me if this is a feature or a bug. Or have I done something incorrectly when setting ZenPhoto up. Also if a workaround exists.

    Password login is recorded via cookies. Most likely your browser is not storing the cookie or is clearing it. You can try setting album sessions in the admin gallery configuration. This will let the login last at least for the duration of the visitors browser session.

    Thank you for the reply. After trying numerous things, it has started to work now somehow. For future reference or in-case someone is interested...

    My problems occurred with default theme by Joen Asmussen and Levi Buzolic with the default color-set. Using Firefox 3.0.4 on Windows XP Pro.

    - I tried what you suggested - I changed the Gallery to use sessions instead of cookies. As a result I was unable to log out of the Gallery at all - the logout button just places me on the main Gallery page. I assumed some of the 'hacks' or plugins available or some other skin would resolve this problem for me, but at that point I just abandoned the sessions idea and returned to cookies.

    - My Gallery also had a master password set at the Gallery level, in addition to a different password on the 'Main' album level. After I had removed the password on the Main gallery level and entered a new username+password at the 'Main' album level, it suddenly started to work as intended - I no longer have to log in at the child-albums.

    I could reproduce this process by setting a password at Gallery level and losing the automatic login to child-forums, even after logging into the Main forum. Perhaps this is intended.. In any case session handling got funky at that point and I could not get to the child-forums with neither the Main forum username nor the Gallery guest user name. Once I removed the Gallery guest users and re-entered the Main album guest username and password.. everything started to work correctly again.

    By the way, thank you for this nice piece of software.. and I will loop forward to future releases...
