I'm new to Zenphoto, but have tried many other solutions to display a gallery. My question is, is there a client login? When setting up a "new user" there are fields for the username and that user's password but I see nowhere where they are used. When I access the main folder I'm presented with all the published albums on the site, but nowhere to sign in. I see where I can password protect the gallery and the albums, but why password protect those when I should be able to just allow each user access to specific galleries and albums, and they gain access to those allowed places with the username and password I set up when creating the user....
I'm I misunderstanding how this system works?

There are other options that you can use. You can enable the user log-in out plugin and (with support from your theme) have a link on the page for login.
If your site is password protected, then any visitor not logged in will receive a logon form from whence they can do just that. You password protect your gallery if you do not want it to be public. If you want it to be public, then the login link is the way to go.
