Weird Login Problem

Hello,

I have installed ZenPhoto V1.29 twice, at first there is no problem on login, but after a while or the next day, I can not login to the administrative page. I am sure I input the right user name and password, it said:

Check your username and password and try again.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks.

Did you use any installation helper scripts maybe? If you can't login at all, the quick fix is to delete the db table "administrators" and rerun setup.

    Hello
    I have the same problem:(
How can I delete the db table "administrators"?

Using a tool like phpmyadmin. Best you ask your host how you do that on your webspace.
  • You know, I've seen this issue pop up periodically in the forums. I think there might actually be a certain scenario where there is actually a problem - both times I installed ZenPhoto (for myself, and for a friend), I had the same problem. At first, I thought I just did something wrong setting the admin name/password. But the second time after the install he couldn't login with the name/password I gave him, and it didn't work for me either, and I had to manually edit the database to fix it also. In the second case, I hadn't setup the email address yet, so I thought maybe the lack of an email address caused it, but never followed through on looking into it.

Yes, and I think I even had it once myself but it never reappeared so it is hard to find out if it is a bug or just a "server glitch" somehow..

Maybe you all forgot that the logon-name is case sensitive ;)

Probably not of course.. but I do think this is kind of uncommon on web-login-forms. I tend to fail my first login try :P
  • Those hard-to-reproduce issues are a real bitch to track down!

Regarding case sensitive. Yes, they are but you can (after first login) change what chars are required and which not for the passwords. Default is that one of each group (numbers, chars, special chars) is required so the passwords can be quite secure. But you can also change that to just lowercase for example on the options.

I doubt that this is the issue we have here. Although I don't know what it could be...

Thanks, the problem didn't appear again.
  • its not a glitch
  • perhaps it is server / permission level - way above a users control
