I am having a problem getting my subalbums to show in descending date order AND having my thumbnail for my albums show a picture from my most recent album at the same time without me having to manually pick a picture to be shown.
I set all the thumbnail fields set as "most recent" so that I don't have to manually change the picture that's showing for the thumbnail every time I add a new album. Then I set my subalbum order to "Date" and clicked the box for Descending. However, when I did that, the thumbnail picture that shows is no longer my most recent. It's actually the picture from the least recent album.
So then I manually ordered my subalbums in ascending date order and now the correct thumbnail is showing, but my subalbums are listed, of course, in ascending order on my website. This wouldn't be a major issue, except that I'm a cake decorator, and I want my most recent pictures showing first, as they are my best ones. Practice makes perfect, after all.
Can you please tell me how to get my subalbums listed in descending date order on my website AND get the thumbnail to pull from the most recently added subalbum?
Thank you.

- edit page of the album:
1. Sort subalbums by : date, filemtime or id while id is the discovery order Zenphoto notes the albums on the filesystem and adds them to the database. This is not necessarily your upload order nor the file date (filemtime) or the internal meta data dae (date).
2. Sort images by: date, filemtime or id
3. Thumbnail: most recent
Of course you have to set this then for every album and this setting overrides the gallery sort order that can be set on:
1. For albums: Options > Gallery > Sort gallery by
2. For images: Options > Image > Sort images by
