Will Zenphoto do this?

Hi!
I'm thinking about a webpage where people can upload a picture of a certain place and it will be shown on the main webpage, perhaps a different tab. I don't want anybody to have to log in except perhaps me as admin to delete if someone uploads something inappropriate. People writing notes after each pic would be cool. Uploads via cell phone also would be cool. Is this something that Zenphoto could do?
Thanks!

People have to login if you want them to upload. The same also for adding descriptions/notes. Everything else would surely be quite a security breach, don't you think? Also we just have tightened security because of some issues.

With cell phone uploads I have no experience but if I recall rights someone had a solution for this. Try a forum search.
  • You could just give "anonymous" FTP access to one of your albums with write-only permissions. Not that I would really recommend such. As to cell phones, the modern smart phones do have FTP capability.
  • I'll post on this thread as this query doesn't really need a new one.
I'm thinking of setting up a website that will allow people to access and download images for a fee. Is this possible by combining something like zenphoto and amember?

I don't know what "amember" is but nearly everything is possible, just dependent of work and your knowledge. You probably will have to quite some work yourself.
  • hi,

so it's possible to create with a little redesign of the admin interface a flickr alike website?
  • Maybe you should try it. From what I know you can use zen photo to upload photos via cell phone if you are using a web browser.

@John Doe: Why do you need to redesign the admin??? Maybe try the flickrish theme, too.
  • well, i'm probably ill informed but if i enable user registration where would be the upload form for registered users? on the main page or on the admin page?

On the backend. Of course it is surely possible to make your own theme based one. It's all just code.
  • yes right :)

by the way, if someone register to my gallery then he's able to upload and more importantly to delete his own uploads or?
because i made a test account and i was able to upload images as registered user but i had no chance to delete my uploaded images.

to delete images requires a global admin option is that right?
  • Upload and Album edit rights are separate entities and may be assigned both, or either one. If you assign upload rights but not Album rights then he cannot delete his images.

All this is described on our user guide (http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/07/an-overview-of-zenphoto-users/)
