when I copy a photo the tags are not duplicated

Hello,

When I copy photos from an album to another one, using the copy button, the captions are duplicated, but not the tags. Is it normal? It takes a long time to add the tags so I hope there is a way to copy them.

Thank you.

    What Zenphoto version?
  • Sure. If this is what you were thinking about, I went inside the user guide about how to create a dynamic album. This way, tags remain available. It would be perfect, except that in the image description section (zp-galleriffic theme), the photos of the dynamic album are no more in their dynamic album. Instead, they are back in the album from where they have been taken in the first place. So it's pretty much useless. I don't know if there's another way to create new real albums, with already existing photos, without getting rid of the tags.
    Thanks...

You did not tell what Zenphoto version you are using. There has been a bug with this in older ones. Copying an image using hte backend functions should keep all info with the image. So if you are not using 1.3.1.2 I have to recommend to upgrade. If the the tag lost is happing with that release please file a ticket.

Images (and albums) in a dynamic album of course stay in their original album. That is the concept of these dynamic albums, collect stuff from the static ones on a given search request. Zenphoto is fileysystem based, there is no way around that except copying images to another album if you really want them in another album.
Actually the theme should not tell you from what album these images originally are (except for their url). If this theme does this it might be a bug and should have been addressed by its author.

Another way is to attach title, descriptions, tags etc via EXIF metadata directly to the image before uploading.
  • I did the upgrade from ZP 1.3.1.1 to ZP 1.3.1.2 one week ago. No trouble.
    My URL: http://www.compostela.us/compostelagalleries/index.php
    I use zp-galleriffic theme.

    I resume my 2 points:

    - with a dynamic album test I can see that this fantastic tool doesn't allow to come back inside the dynamic album after having gone to the photo description page. It comes back inside the real album from where it has been searched. In zp-galleriffic, like in some official themes, the captions and exif data are displayed after you clicked on a thumb, and one expects to come back in the dynamic album after that.

    - and the other: well, I confirm, with ZP-1.3.1.2, when I copy a photo from the backend, tags are lost (only tags).

Should I post a ticket for this one then? Thanks!
  • Yes, create a ticket for the not copied tags.

Unfortunately our ticket system is not setup to provide support for third party themes.

@Rousset: I think your first point is really a theme issue we can't support as it is 3rd party. Please try a standard theme like the Zenpage theme and you will see it generally works (if for some reason not come back and report that..;))
  • Hello,
I checked Zenpage theme and script about dynamic albums and I got the same issue: inside the dynamic album, you get the thumbnails with the actual photo enlarged underneath, but when you click the next thumbnail, or the 3rd one (it's pretty unpredictable!), you are no longer inside the dynamic album. You are back inside the real album from which the dynamic album was created.
I hope you'll confirm having the same problem so I can have the solution!

    Thanks...

Sorry, I am not able to reproduce this with the current svn or nightly: Try yourself on my demo site:
    http://zenphoto.maltem.de/cosmos.alb/
The url in the address bar changes of course as the images are in their original album but the breadcrumb reflects clearly the dynamic album.

We currently do not really recommend to try the nightly as we are restructuring some things which involves theming changes (see our website for info).
  • I just went to the demo site. I was inside the cosmos album.
I hit the 1st thumbnail and the description page was displayed fine inside the cosmos album. But after the 3rd thumbnail, file ab33966.jpg (3/12), I was no longer in cosmos, but in album1, and the breadcrumb was only showing album1.

If you can't reproduce that, so I have a "local" issue, the kind I don't like :-)

I can indeed not reproduce that. I am on image 9..;-) Check your browser and server settings regarding cookies. The dynamic album context which is a search context is stored via these (or alternatively sessions if you set that option on the zp backend),
