Single Album Login

Let me explain what I am trying to do...

I want to have my gallery index page viewable to everyone with images in the thumbnails (no lock sign). Then I want each album to be accessible ONLY by the person/people I give the password for THAT album to. I have tried to select the 'managed albums' boxes as appropriate, but on saving they seems to empty themselves!

I want it so that 'BOB' can only access the album named 'BOB' with his own assigned password, and he cannot access any images in any other album, (but he can see there are other albums in the gallery by the thumbnail view).

At the moment I can only get it so that BOB has to sign in to view his own album, but with that sign-in he is also able to view the 'normal' size images in any other album too. This is not desirable for my photography business where I want to keep clients albums private to them.

I have managed to get it so that BOB cannot see the 'full size' images in other albums, but I don't even want him to be able to get as far as normal size.

I have tried creating groups and specific users, but that made no difference.
I believe the fault is that the 'managed albums' selections are not sticking on save and therefore not being specified.

Am I missing something obvious? Am I asking something impossible (and therefore going to have to host my albums elsewhere)? Or is it a bug?

If you are using 1.4.1.2 please try the trunk nightly build as there were some bugs fixed already.

How do I go about installing the nightly build? I am using Zenphoto as a simplescript on ipage.com and am very new to all this web building stuff!

    All explained here: http://www.zenphoto.org/news/installation-and-upgrading
We generally don't support install helper scripts.

    what are 'install helper scripts'?

Also does this mean that to keep up to date I have to keep downloading and installing? Why doesn't it automatically update itself?

1Click install scripts like SimpeScripts is one.

Yes. It does not update automatically because
    1. We change things frequently so checking these changes for auto update is rather complicated, especially if server requirements changes, and not worth the work for us being just small team of volunteers.
    2. We believe actually that no software should update itself without the user telling it so, so that the user knows about it. You can check on the admin overview page if you are on the latest release.
    3. Installing is not that complicated and it is not that we release an update every week...
