Latest update erased login password?

Hi,

I noticed similar issues posted. After updating to the latest version I was unable to login. I had ZP send me a new password which resolved everything. My user name has remained "admin" so I don't know if, had it been anything else, whether it would have been necessary to create a new username too.

I copy/pasted the original password from my ZP email and manually typed it in. No luck. I tried the latest Safari and PPC Firefox on my G5 iMac. I also tried using Safari and iCab on my iPad. As mentioned, the solution was to rest the password.

I noticed other settings in my photo album settings had been changed, like unpublished photos being published by themselves. Nothing I couldn't fix, but it all happened after the update. I'm using the Stop Design theme.

  • If you had a mail for your gallery containing a cleartext password then you were indeed running an old version of Zenphoto. We have not stored the password in the clear in ages.

Since you mention that other settings were lost I presume that your database setup got changed. Perhaps just a different prefix, but such would cause there to be no "memory" of the older installation.
  • Hi,

The username and password were sent from noreply@simplescripts.com. My mistake, sorry!

  • Ah, the truth will out. Please read our forum rules. You will see that there are often probems associated with installations done by these third party products. Specially there have been numerous issues with people's user/password no longer working.

Not much we can do about that. We have no relationship with these installers, and they seem not to want to incorporate the Zenphoto Setup script which is the only way we know of to insure that migrations from release to release happen properly.

Your only recourse is one of the password reset paths as described by the troubleshooting guide. As for your other settings. probably the same source of the problem. You will just have to go and set them correctly again.
