Hello,
There is no Greetings forum @ zenphoto so this one counts as a hi everyone around and congratulations to the zp dev team. Fantastic coding you're doing here. I've seen some complains in the forum urging even for prompt support. Unbelievable... This is free code that the dev team offers for free. Support is even for free and still complains...
I must say I've tested to some extent different photo galleries and this one in my choice. I read the zenphoto-piwigo comparison and still prefer the former.
Having said this, I'd like to put forward some thougts concerning albums and group permissions:
Is there any way to apply group permissions for managed albums on sub-album basis?
considering a private zenphoto gallery setting and given:
/gallery2012/gallery2012a [...]
/gallery2012/gallery2012b [family trip]
/gallery2012/gallery2012c [dinner at a friend's place]
/gallery2011/gallery2011a [...]
/gallery2010/gallery2010a [...]
/gallery2010/gallery2010b [...]
Admins may wish only family group access to /gallery2012/gallery2012b and friends group access to /gallery2012/gallery2012c
As far as it seems, group permission is granted recursively at top level albums so different permissions for different groups at a subalbum level does not seem to be an option. Or is it?
An easy way out would be placing all subalbums at top level in the hierarchy:
/gallery2012a
/gallery2012b
/gallery2012c
/gallery2011a
/gallery2010a
/gallery2010b
But then, just imagine say over a hundred of such albums (every trip, meeting... is sorted in a different album). Those albums may well be sorted by date and still the homepage would get cluttered...
This is, generally speaking, the only "con". Apart from it, zenphoto is all "pros". Thumbs up.
By the way, I searched the forum for a related topic with no success. If this issue has already been discussed and dealt with, well then I've searched poorly and wasted time typing.
Greetings,

Is there any way the images at:
How to use the Dynamic Albums feature
http://www.zenphoto.org/news/how-to-use-the-dynamic-albums-feature
could be restored? I could read it thoroughly and begin with some testing.
Thank you for your support.
Greetings,
@sbillard, acrylian: thank you for your messages
@acrylian: no need for sorries
Having read "How to use the Dynamic Albums feature" and after some thinking I understand what sbilliard suggests goes along the lines:
1.- have an album (or set of photos, depending on admin preferences) tagged
e.g. /gallery2012/gallery2012b [family trip] tagged as familytrip
2.- create a dynamic album and have permissions assigned to it for a group
3.- repeat 2.- for as every different group permissions must be granted to
I prefer to set it out this way so that other reading this topic can easly implement the procedure.
So basically it would consist of creating as many different dynamic albums from a static album. That way, different group permissions may be granted to a same album.
To be more precise, I don't think there is a need to tag
/gallery2012/gallery2012b [family trip]
since as a dynamic album can be created if the search term consists of the album title - easy identification.
