Even though Zenphoto is a great tool, it was initially designed like a blog where the admin would manage all aspects of the media. in the light of many plug-ins now added, its imperative to shift the paradigm to the client in the context of media & rights management ie album creation, uploading and rights management which are fundamental. Users are perplexed not to find an 'upload' & 'album' pages upon registering as is common with other gallerys including youtube. In addition to the feature of album passwords, allow albums to be related to the 'user' using the Database ('owner' field - zp_albums). This will make ZP simple and equal to the best.

Thus in a nutshell

1) All registered users should have 'upload' & 'album' pages upon registering by default
2) The admin should continue exercising authority on the above to curtail abuse

    You can already assign users to specific albums. Only top level but it has been explained lots of times that this is a performance decision as Zenphoto is file system based. The rights checks get really complicated since subalbums and their images naturally need to inherit rights of their parents..

    1) It is up to you as the admin if you allow your (self)registered users to upload or what default rights a new self registered users gets.
    2) He can do that.

    I am not sure I understand what your point actually is.

    1. All registered users have the rights that you, the administrator assigns as a default. If they are not what you want, why did you select them? Or maybe you were too hasty to even look?

    2. The adminsitrator can always change rights or even delete users.

    3. Albums have several methods of being associated with users. The most straight forward is the primary album concept.

    So, I think you really have not done your homework.
