I have the random image and tag cloud setup in my theme and it is working well, however I'd like to exclude photos, and maybe tags, for albums that the user isn't allowed to see.

is this possible, if so how do i do it?

Actually these functions should do that. But you neither mentioned the Zenphoto version nor the theme used.

Sorry version is 1.4.5.7 and theme is ZenPage with a modification to add these areas.

Try 1.4.5.8 and/or the support build. If you still get display for things a user is not allowed (remember to view the site logged out and with that user, the admin sees all), open a ticket with an exact description of what rights are set etc.

Thanks for the advice. I have updated and that appears to have solved it for the Random pic but not the tag cloud. Will do some more digging around that side.
