Is there a way to mass edit album info? I would like to correct the album date for quite a lot of number of albums (more than 40 albums).

I would edit them from the sql database except that I don't know how to do it. (I'll practise on my localhost install first )

Any pointers how to do it is greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I found out how to do it. I just need to go to phpMyAdmin and edit on the relevant table. With phpMyAdmin's inline editing, it's much faster than loading each 'edit album page' and change the album info from zenphoto's interface.

That's unfortunate you had to use phpMyAdmin as it's ZenPhoto's job to handle that type of thing. I hope the devs take notice

We do listen ;-) There is a mass-edit for albums but that means only more albums per page. What you mean is a bulk option to change the date. To my knowledge there was never a request about that but it sounds like it would be a good addition. The best would be to open a ticket ;-)

There's not a lot of actions that can be done using the existing album bulk edit feature.

I'd use zenphoto's interface to change the albums' date, if the number of albums to be changed is not a lot, but I need to change the date for more than 40 albums, and it's a drag to load each album info page individually and change it there. I thought maybe someone else has experiencing in doing it.

Incidentally, the edit images page loads very slowly and is not very ui-friendly (too many text fields, starts getting even more complicated if additional languages are set e.g. I need to scroll within the text field itself for image title and description). Would be better if zenphoto would allow me to edit just a single photo that I select, without loading the other 9, 19, 29, etc. photos.

Other cms that I've used have bulk edit options that is simple, with a quick edit area to change certain basic data. Additional functionality (e.g. more complex data manipulation) can be done using plugins. Maybe this can be done with zenphoto, if the developers are worried about adding bulk to the core code.

I'll open a ticket later for a feature request and suggestion for UI improvement

Yes, all things we plan to improve in the future. Also the multilingual is indeed inconvenient with alltogether. But it will take time since that involves of course more change than on the surface as you can imagine.

So please don't expect anything tomorrow or next week but keep the tickets with ideas and suggestions coming :-)

It should absolutely be possible to add a date change bulk action to the existing ones though.

I just realized something...

Use the mass-edit link in this sentence :
"Select an album to edit its description and data, or mass-edit all gallery level albums."

It's right above the "Apply" button on the "Albums" page.

You'll get all top level albums on one page.

Sorry @crylian you already mentioned this in your post.
I should read better ;-)

The multilingual is a good idea, only that the UI for it is a bit clunky.

Regarding overnight changes, no worries. I've been using zenphoto for a long time, it's 'simple' enough with a lot of options for customisation. I avoid going into zenphoto admin UI to change album and image info if possible

I do miss the inline editing feature though, where I can change the information straight from my gallery site.

Thanks to all the developers and contributors (past and present) for continuing working on zenphoto. Hope to see great changes in future versions.

According to the inline editing that is really not likely to return because of the severe security issues involved. But we will try to make the backend better and IMHO we should lay the focus primarily on the gallery management (I feel the rest is generally fitting it's purpose).

But that all needs to be discussed including multilingual handling ideas. So feel free to collect ideas via tickets although we of course cannot promise to cover everything.
