You need to add that hitcounter on image.php or album.php. There are no admin options for the hitcounter, you need to pass parameters as shown above: http://www.zenphoto.org/documentation/functions/_template-functions.php.html#functionhitcounter

Make sure you try the hit counter when you are not logged in. Browse without being logged in.
