There is a possibility to sharp slightly the thumbs. Is it possible to sharp the main image as well? It looks soft after resizing down to default image size.

There are options for thumb sharpening and for the "quality" of the full sized image.

The "quality" of the image parameter is related to jpeg compression quality only. Even if I use 100% quality on the image I still get a soft image because of the resizing. A slight amount of sharp would help.

Sharpening is pretty processor intensive so not many people have used it. You can submit a feature request. It will get added to the vote and we will see where it goes.
