hey folks, I'd like to tag my photos in picasa instead of zenphoto, because I can do it in batches. but they have this weird character at the end of each tag: . any ideas why? thanks.

are there any plugins for batch tagging in zen photo?

  1. That will have to do with the encoding. A little more details please: Do they appear in the admin, in a theme, which theme or is it a custom theme? Could be wrong encode theme files or a database issue. Mabye it's a picasa problem, who knows (never used it).

  2. No, but you could use any EXIF capable program for that.

  • I'm using the default theme.
  • They appear in tag fields on backend and front.
  • If I look at the file's properties in Windows, it shows no characters after the tag. though it might be hiding a trailing semicolon that appears when there are two tags.
  • It's likely from Picasa. If I crop or edit a photo in picasa and then load into zenphoto, under Credit I see Picasa 2.7

Do you use iphoto? recommend any alternatives to picasa? web-based or windows? i really just want to rotate my photos, delete crappy ones, and add tags in bulk.

thanks a bunch...

This seems to be a problem with Picasa although I have not contacted them. I've used several galleries and they all have the same thing. There is a question mark after each TAG and at the end of each sentence of your descriptions written in picasa.

So my conclusion is that it is not Zenphoto and a bug in Picasa.

If you have any of the Photoshop family you will have Adobe Bridge. That is a good program for editing EXIF/IPTC data. I don't know if it also rotates, though, since my images are rotated by the camera software.

theCoup. Sorry I am Mac user (and I don't use iPhoto and I only have an old version of this anyway) I use Photoshop for this. There are loads of freeware, opensource and shareware programms. You might want to look at places like www.versiontracker.com.

That's just the Unicode Replacement Character, indicating that the character could not be mapped to any display character...

We should be trimming that string better, if you like you can open a Trac ticket for it. Thanks!

I've posted it to Trac. Wasn't sure about all the details.

I should go back to adobe bridge. It's not perfect, but nothing will be...
