Hi all,
I just started to build my website , and after browsing around I found that Zenphoto are likely suitable to show my portfolio works. As per the demo , it simple and not so messy around.

Eventually, my installation process are not smooth sailing after all . I have browse about 3 hours on the Forum,looking for the match troubleshoot. On after another I got so confuse ...manage to find some solution though ..but still stuck with this stage :-

  1. MySQL can't be detected:
    I have created the database on my host/site and have fill in the zp-config.php requirement username,password and database host tally it with my database setup information...here is the eg I have done :-

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// Database Information (the most important part!)
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

$conf['mysql_user'] = "KKK_username";
$conf['mysql_pass'] = "KKK_password";
$conf['mysql_host'] = "localhost"; // Won't need to change this 90% of the time.
$conf['mysql_database'] = "KKK_portfolio";

// If you're sharing the database with other tables, use a prefix to be safe.
$conf['mysqlprefix'] = "zp";

after run the setup.php it still mention the same warning :-
Could not connect to the MySQL server. Check the user, password, and database host in your zp-config.php file and try again.

If there any mistake or part that I have not touch?

  1. Sub domain installation.
    After browsing around the forum thread, I manage to find out that there is different behavior/setting for the .htacess to be used with Subdomain. I have pass on setup.php for the ".htaccess RewriteBase" for normal pages

http://www.onepiecebakery.com/portfolio/zp-core/setup.php

but failed when I access thru subdomain http://portfolio.onepiecebakery.com/zp-core/setup.php

Can someone show me the step/process for me to use zenphoto thru subdomain access?

Thank you in advance

the developers in here know much more than me

but if i was u i will delete everything even the database if nothing important in it then start all over again with clean instalations and new created database then browse to the setup.php there u can fill all the database info.

browse your site than if your album in the root just ad this in the end of your site address: zp-core/setup.php

u do not need to do anything with the config.php file itself.

if the albun in the directory u can have something like:

your site address/directory name/zp-core/setup.php

also if u have any albums just save them

instalations is so easy and straight forward

hope i am right

make sure u dont touch the config.php

Plus, can you tell me again where is this config.php file that u mentioning about (i just want to know it ..seem i don't see any config.php inside my zenphoto installation file ..are referring it to zp-config.php) ..

Also I have complete building a new fresh installation (inside another folder) ..but seem it still came out the same result error on MySQL connection ...

well, far as i know the config file it will create automaticaly after instalations in the zip-core folder

the same thing happen to me before. i could not located than i found it after instalations

i thing u have problem filling the database info

try this

$conf['mysql_user'] = "KKK_username";
$conf['mysql_pass'] = "KKK_password";
$conf['mysql_host'] = "localhost"; // Won't need to change this 90% of the time.
$conf['mysql_database'] = "KKK_username";

database name most likely to be same as the username

also u may need to have the correct host name

are u hosting with " godaddy" ??

Oh, I guess u might got confuse on the database name...
On that link my database name is "portfolio"...same as the folder name.
Anyway try out that one too...no changes.

Deep inside I do feel like something or small changes that can change this situation ...but right now I really can't see where I'm going wrong.

From what I read, you seem to have entered the wrong db name. You should be prompted by setup to do this.
And bill61 is right, the zp-config.php file will be generated by setup with the data you entered. After that it's in the zp-core folder.

Ok will do that ...give me some minute..
Btw...
I'm not supposed to run installation ..
but should I edit the zp-config.php and fill in the database info inside first?..or just let it as original copy?

Ok ..
sorry for the delay. AS you said to clean up my zen, I also clean up "Gallery" program that I being try to used before...just in case it can affect this process. It turn out to be so long waiting for the file to be deleted.

OK ..
I'm start fresh now ..
1-I have transfer the zenphoto file into new folder name "webphoto"
2-Create new database (and delete all the non relevant one)
User name "KKK_username"
password "KKK_password"
data base name "KKK_portfolio"
far as I concern the localhost name remain "localhost" (is there any other way to check other than asking the host provider? )
3-Mean we can access this file at http://www.mydomain.com/webphoto

so i'm waiting for the next task

oh..
I did transfer all the zenphoto file untouched into the webphoto folder.

"2- upload new files using your ftp for example and leave them alone."

when u mention this, in my understanding is to upload the file into a new folder (webphoto) and never run/access the setup.php file. Or u mean that I just transfer the zenphoto somewhere else inside my root folder?.

I have not accessing the link since I upload the file .

Please advice.
