hi!just installed the nightly build zenphoto-2008-07-06-trunk and I activated stopdesing theme

as we are Germans we set the language to german
but stopdesign theme is not done correctly:

there is english text, '<h2>Add a comment</h2>' instead of gettext("Add Comment") for example
sometimes gettext is used but it does not get the correct translation

so please help me out, my nephew is waiting to upload real images, not just test images and he wants to work with it...

is there a better version with complete gettext-support?

The language translations are fairly new (German first appeared in 1.1.6, the other languages in 1.1.7.) So, we are still in the Beta stage. We appreciate posts like yours that help us find where we have missed something. We will make the corrections as the problems are discovered.

This one will go smoothly as the string already exists as a gettext string in other themes. So, with the update of stopdesign you should have the translation. Other finds may take a dual effort--fixing the problem and then generating the translation.

Keep feeding us these problems as you find them.

I had the same problem, and I use the same template..
My solution: Translate the text in the code to german... there are a lot of translations which don't work...

And which ones are these please? We have over 1000 strings in Zenphoto to translate including the themes. As sbillard said we probably missed one here and there when adding the gettext stuff.

I took a quick look and I found some that we missed myself. I will update them and the german language file. It will be in tonight's nightly.

I can't remember which, but in the index.php of stoptheme: description, gallery data, and "zufallsbilder"...

and then there is a error with mehrzahl of bild...

I don't know why, but perhaps there are some errors in the translation file with the indicated cipher..

"Description" is one of the ones I found we missed...:-)

thanks for the positive Comment! I started already to translate the code of the template but that is not ok...

I remember that nearly all <h2>'s are direct text and not gettext...

so I will download the template this evening at home and check, and also I will list all "gettexts" which are not interpreted correctly (I also remember some...)

what I must check as well:
as this theme uses Images for navigation, I will check whether the images have text-layers so that it will be possible to use with different languages

I think it's not a good idea to have text in images, better just output text and use background-images, makes life easier!

Depends if you are satisfied with the standard fonts on the web. Sometimes you want a special font for a special occasion. Since this theme is only an adaption of a (wordpress?) theme, the original designer thought that apparently.

Of course the images in Stopdesign don't have layers. How should they when displaying on the web?..:-)

Just to make it sure: Also you would have to download and use the whole nightly and not only the theme! Since the translation stores the lines of the strings to translate it's depended on the version it is done with. So this all will only work with the nightly, the nightly theme version and the nightly translation.

concerning the images with layers: sometimes developers add a folder with material and there the images are editable, afterwards you save them for the web...

so unfortunately these images are for english-language sites only (or for denglish- german.english) ;=)

I will download the nightly build and continue to find the leaks ...

I guess you would have to change the images yourself (or ask "hallo" I think he did this already for his site)
