Hi zenphoto-team,

I didn't find any solution for my problem on this site, so here is another question from me:

I'm running zp 1.2. When I try to password-protect an album, I use the admin panel (edit-tab->album), enter a username in the field "Album guest user" and the password in "Album password" and "repeat". After hitting the save album-button, zp says "Changes saved" but the "Album guest user"-field is blank and the password in "Album password" and "repeat" seems to be replaced with an unknown, ten-digits-password (●●●●●●●●●●). After loggin off, the album is password-protected, but inaccessible with my username/password combination. Where is my mistake???

Many thanks in advance,
egmont01

This sounds like you are missing the zp-core/locale/en_US folder. You can either create that folder or you can install the current nightly build which will insure that the folder is created.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem as described above.
The folder en_US was missing, so I created it.
But I still have the same problem.

For info : I upgraded recently from 1.1.4 to 1.2.

Any other idea ?

Hello,

and thanks for your suggestions. I'm still having this problem, although I tried out several nightly builds. Maybe its a problem because my service-provider doesnt support en_US? That folder was created during installation but switching to English (US) via the Admin-Panel gives me the Message "English (US) is not available. The locale en_US is not supported on your server."

That error message should not prevent you from using the zenphoto. Exactly which problem is it that you are having?

can you save the album passwords if you leave the language set to your local prefered language? Actually, these fields should not be dependent on the language, but just a suggested thing to try.

Are there any other things that you can't save? I am not able to reproduce this problem at all.

BTW: Your passwords are probably being saved. The characters displayed in a password field have no relation to the actual password. You would not want someone to know the number of characters in a password--that would help in guessing the password.

Hello sbillard,

i installed yesterdays nightly build, the problem still occurs.

Quote:Are there any other things that you can't save?
No, e.g. the admin login information or a gallery guest user/gallery master password combination within the gallery configuration will be saved.

I found out, that protecting an album just with an album password, but leaving the username (album guest user) blank works. So it seems, that zp saves the correct password, but allocates a random (?) name for the album guest user, when typing a username in the field "Album guest user" and the password in "Album password" - even thought after saving the changes the field "Album guest user" is blank, because logging in into the album with only the password doesn't work.

Strange - isn't it? Well, the workaround with just a password without a username is quite practicable for my needs.

Another thought: I'm running zp without .htaccess (see my other topic) - could that be the reason for my problem???

Oh, btw: while writing this reply i discovered the "Enable user name login field"-option - unchecking makes my workaround to a regular behaviour of zp, only prompting for the password :-)

Really nice gallery - just sent you some bucks via paypal.

Greetings
