i tried to upgrade existing zenphoto 1.2.6 to 1.2.8 to have imagemagic support. but when run installer:

Zenphoto has detected that you're upgrading to a new version.
Systems Check:

* PHP version 5.2.9
* PHP Safe Mode
* PHP magic_quotes_gpc
* Graphics support: PHP GD library 2.0 or higher
* Graphics Library rotation support [is not present]
  Warning!

  The graphics support library does not provide support for image rotation.
* PHP gettext() support
* PHP mbstring package
* PHP MySQL support
* zp-config.php file

how can i get imagemagic support? imagemagic is installed in system

The reason is that Zenphoto currently does not have Image magick support. It is planned/being worked on though (for the Imagick variant): http://www.zenphoto.org/trac/ticket/20

You have to ask the user who is working on that.

Why don't you Just make the images smaller?

This support is still planned. I've been keeping an eye on things here at zenphoto, but I just don't have the time right now to be working on it. If you're interested, however, you could help test and provide feedback.
