Hi,

This looks like a wonderful plugin to have! Except, I can't get it installed. I went over the installation instructions included in the zip file (removed the .example, changed the chmod, etc) and it's just not showing up for me. It doesn't appear in my list of plugins on Wordpress and the url for setup doesn't exist. What am I doing wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to add that the setup url is almost working for me now....I just don't know what I'm supposed to give for a database name. Help?

ZenPhoto is not a plugin for Wordpress. It's a whole other application that can be used along-side Wordpress.

Oh geez. I didn't realize that. I should have read a little more closely. Someone recommended zenphoto when she knew I was looking for an album plugin. I would love to see an example of how someone has used this alongside Wordpress. Didn't I read somewhere that you can even make it LOOK like a wordpress theme? I must be confused.

In any case, I got the database name figured out. Now it's asking for username and password to get into the setup and it won't accept mine. How do I get past this point?

I got it working! I didn't realize the passwords had to be the same in the config file (mysql_user at top and admin interface username in middle).

There are some articles on the forums that allow you to work some magic with Wordpress and Zenphoto and integrate them. I prefer to keep them separate, since the includes and such are a bit tricky.

An example is my own site, http://www.thinkdreams.com/blog (either click on "Gallery" or go to http://www.thinkdreams.com/zenphoto)

I've basically "themed" zenphoto to look just like my wordpress blog. With the zenpress and zenshow plugins, you can even add zenphoto pics to your wordpress posts, and show random pics from your albums on your sidebar.

Zenpress is a wordpress plugin which allows you to place images from your zenphoto database into wordpress posts as links. It takes the place of plugins like autogallery, etc. Makes it a lot easier to post images in Wordpress.

Both are great plugins and work well.

Note: I don't have zenshow on my blog right now, as I simplified my Wordpress to be more of a single post style, and thus have no sidebar. I did have it running on my previous theme though, using Hemingway, and it worked well.

Oh, and as a sidenote, the admin username and the database (MySQL) username don't necessarily need to be the same. The admin username and password is strictly for getting into the zenphoto web admin tool, and the mysql username and password is well, you know, the database connection stuff.

Thanks for that, I really appreciate it! Your site is just beautiful. Basically, what I'm working on is a family photo blog site (I hesitate to post the link since it's all about my kids). Each of my 3 kids has their own "page" on my blog. I was hoping to post single albums at a time...first loose tooth, first day of school, etc. I guess it'll be too hard to accomplish that.

I do have one more question....I have my first album posted, but at the top, it says _vti_cnf . How do I get that off of there?

you wouldn't happen to be using frontpage to do you web design would you? or have frontpage server extensions installed on the web server you are using?

_vti_cnf directories are a byproduct of using frontpage or frontpage extensions. you should be able to remove them, but only if you are not using frontpage or its extensions to do your web design.

Yikes. I am using frontpage. I looked a little more and the _vti_cnf is actually linked to an empty photo album. I wonder if I can go in through cpanel or something and delete? I'm almost afraid to touch anything. lol

Now I've got zenpress installed, but everytime I try to use it, I get this error: "The requested URL /wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/zenpress/popup_zp.php was not found on this server." How do I change that?

I got rid of it. I used my ftp program to delete it. Thanks for that hint! Now to figure out the zenpress problem....

When you say single albums, what do you mean specifically? Zenphoto should be able to do what you are looking to do (it's very flexible).

OK. I understand now. Zenpress.

There are two sets of directories you have to copy. One is the actual plugin which you put into plugins under your wp_content directory, and the other one goes under the includes in the tiny_MCE plugins section. The zenpress docs in the distribution should have the exact placement locations. That's probably why you're getting that error.

So, looking at the distribution folder, there are two directories:

wp-content\plugins\zenpress
wp-includes\js\tinymce\plugins\zenpress

If you look at the structure, you have to place the zenpress folders in those locations on the server. That should do it. Activate the plugin, then go to Options>Zenpress to configure. It may autodetect the settings.
